I used the portable Wi-fi device during my stay in various cities throughout Japan, and it proved to be fast and reliable everywhere.
Only downside would be the need to constantly keep a battery charger with you, as it does use up a lot of battery.
Other than that, truly excellent service I will definitely use again.

The items were awaiting our arrival in Japan and were as advertised. The high-speed device was very useful in built-up areas and the long-range device gave us a lot more coverage outside of cities. Returning the items was easy and convenient.

Very good service and price. Will use again next time I'm in Japan. Was a little hard to set up the SIM card as there were no instructions for Windows Phones but only took about 10 minutes to solve and then the SIM worked and had service the whole time I was in Japan. Was easy to pick up from the airport and return at the airport.

Worked very well. I was extremely happy. The mobile hot spot was waiting for me at the hotel as promised.

This service was brilliant. Very cheap and convenient to use. Would not hesitate for a second in using this service again next time I'm in Japan. Coverage was excellent and data speeds were acceptable for my purposes.

Great service! The package was sent to Narita a few days before my arrival and there were no issues in collecting it. The WiFi device (the unlimited, black one) worked excellently and has a very good battery life! The USB power bank that I had rented however, did not work but CDJapan's prompt honest service made it easier; I e-mailed about this and once they checked it after I returned it, they say a refund has been initiated for it.
The Wi-Fi device's coverage is really great as well! In the pack, a Japanese-style adapter that can charge two USBs was provided--this was a huge help!
Returning the package at Narita was equally hassle-free and so smooth! Will absolutely recommend this service to everybody!

maybe good if there's monitoring usage feature, since most of smartphone doesn't support usage monitoring if using WIFI.

It was perfect! Arrived on time, the instructions about how to installed it were very accurate. And never had problems with the Internet connection in the Kyoto/ Osaka area .
Th price is very convenient if you compare it with the rest of simcards in the market.

I got the cheaper option because it's cheaper and also that I would be traveling a lot, and the coverage was certainly exceptional! Only times I didn't really have a connection was when trains went through tunnels (as would be expected). The speed was good for the most part too, and using it mainly just on my phone I hardly reached the limit. If you'll be using it more with a laptop or something though, or to watch videos, a faster service would certainly be a better choice.

Rented the standard speed portable wifi and it worked flawlessly all the time. We went as far north as Abashiri and always had signal coverage (albeit LTE). Used it mainly for AGPS, web searching on touristy things and Instagram.

It's gods for the first 10 day. But it's pretty bad for the last 4 days. We were thinking maybe all the tall building in Tokyo, but we do have any trouble at all when we just arrived Tokyo. So not really sure what's going on.

First time using it, good experience and awesome speed if you take extra care of the data limit. The APN set up guide is pretty straight-forward and didn't take me long to set it up on my phone.
Hope that in the future we can have more daily allocated data allowance.

Again the pickup and return were no problem. This is the first time I rented a SIM card to be used with my phone; I have always rented a mobile WiFi with my tablet before. For the first two days I was having only intermittent connection with NTC DoCoMo from the rental SIM. I finally followed the instruction and removed my own SIM from the phone (previously I have only disabled it). The rental SIM did not work perfectly right after that, but it did soon work consistently eventually after a couple phone restarts. I felt using the mobile WiFi was easier to set up and use, though it is one more device to remember turning on and off.

I was really happy with my portable wifi router rental. In fact I can't believe I haven't used it on my previous trips. Will definitely always rent it again since it was so convenient.

I had really no issues whatsoever with coverage (I traveled between Tokyo and Osaka and also went into Japanese countryside in between). No issues with speed: even when making a skype call to my travel agency using the wifi. And the price was one of the cheapest I found online.

Great service. Wifi worked well everywhere, two USB plug charger was super handy, picking it up and shipping back were easy, price was good. No complaints.

Great service! Unlimited data for a very cheap price with pick up from Airport and a return envelope that you drop off at the letterbox at airport on departure. Very easy to use and great instructions.

Great service. Hotspot was waiting for us at the hotel when we arrived and provided great coverage all over Japan. Battery life however could've been better - we had to plug the hotspot into a portable charger at around 5pm each day.

Connection never dropped, it was fast and reliable, it saved me dozens of times and prevented thousands of headaches, we were able to do international calls through it and it even worked just as fine in the middle of nowhere close to the Ibaraki area as it worked inside the Tokyo metropolitan area. I actually felt sad when I returned it because connections like this don't even exist in my country.
